I'm so impressed by Miss Eunice Jin (pictured to the left). I went to school with her and always new she had an eye for makeup. In this small college town, it's easy to keep an eye on each other. I'm glad she was still on my facebook. She has done most of the hair, makeup, photography and editing in these photos. She is very talented and I wish her the best of luck. Mola Project

A mola, is a multi layered piece of fabric, crafted in Panama. The one I have pictured was given to me by two of my best friends when they went to visit family in Panama City. I didn't even realize until just recently that my art project was inspired by it. I've been working on a large canvas to create a map out of fabric (very cool and soon to be posted).

Sloan Photographers

I stumbled upon Sloan Photographers while, once more, browsing Rock n' Roll Bride (my all time favorite place for wedding photography inspiration). They are a husband and wife team (and mighty good). I like the many effects they use on their photos for each session. A hint of sepia tone, black and whites, color... they know how to make every moment into a beautiful one. Their portraits are outstanding. Very warm. They give so much life to every photo. Outstanding job!

This is the most adorable thing I've seen in a long time. It just makes me smile. I found it while perusing my all time favorite blog .. Rock 'n Roll Bride. I love the creativity (especially considering it was shot with a Motorola Mz10 cell phone). It is literally beyond words .. so .. watch it now ..

Helvetica .. A typography story

This documentary has been out a while but I just recently watched it in class (I'm a design major). Ever since, I can't stop taking notice of every font around me. Serifs (strokes on the ends of upper and lowercase letters), Sans Serif (without serif), script font, decorative, etc... etc... etc...FONT FONT FONT... everywhere.. ahhhh.

Helvetica was designed by Max Miedinger in 1957. The movie was a 50th birthday celebration of the font. It is a distinctive Sans Serif type. We see it every day. Check out Web Designer Depot for 40 brands that use Helvetica. American Apparel, JEEP, BMW (to name a few). Street, subway and stop signs are all, say it class, Helvetica!

The movie has several designers, young and old, explaining why they are for helvetica or against it. I'm all for creativity in type. However, this classic has won me over. It's simple, clear and if you check out examples, I promise you will be blown away by its diversity (in my opinion). LOVE IT!

Hypothetical Wedding

When your girlfriend comes over with 25lbs of white satin in the form of a beautiful wedding gown... well... it gets you thinking about your own special day. Or at least it does in my case. Hypothetically... I will get married one day(ok... I've dreamt of it like all little girls... prince charming, big ring, happy ever after, etc, etc, etc). I kinda forgot about this female fantasy until tonight.

I dream of a simple, beautiful and quirky wedding. I want a religious ceremony surrounded by nature. SMALL. Close family and friends. Something read from Corinthians 13 (however I really love Song of Solomon 2:16).

My reception will be an explosion of wackiness, color, and an experience for all your senses. I've always had this idea for a masquerade theme. I love living out the fantasy of different characters. So why not do it to celebrate my marriage! I love how in Mimi Van Wyck's Charleston wedding (some photos posted above), she is dressed as a princess and her groom, a prince. For my nuptials, I want masks and accessories for all guest.

This madness will take place outside among the stars. Lanterns will light our way. Finger foods and a champagne toast will be served on my own collection of unique dishes and glassware. Entertainment will be in the form of games and elaborate karaoke skits. Tree's will be dressed with bright fabrics. Moroccan tents will draw in guest to chat for hours. I want to bring the indoors, outside. Basically, if you mix the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, A Midsummer Nights Dreams and Arabian Nights.. your starting to get the idea.

Well, it was fun dreaming for a moment. . .

ETSY FIND OF THE WEEK

White Owl is a vintage inspired jewelry line run by two sisters. They're Etsy's Featured Seller of the Week and I can see why. They rummage through estate sales and Grandma's trinkets to create their own one of a kind designs. I love all the "romantic noir" pieces with rock n roll touches. It mixes lovely lace, sweet ribbon and chain metal that just screams "fierce".

I have a new project idea for my walls and my medium will be ... FABRIC! I'm new to the whole, wide, wonderful world of fabrics. I recently discovered Ann Maria Horner. Her designs are so vibrant and cheery. She teams up with Free Spirit Fabrics to make these inspiring creations. I'm about to place my order for her Drawing Room Bundle! 1.5 yards of 100% cotton is on its way!!!

Ann Wood is the Epitome of Everything I Love

I love, love, love Ann Wood! I just found her stuff on Flickr. She has such a sense of whimsy (that I adore). I feel like I've escaped into a Rococo masterpiece. Her collection of fanciful horses, bright and feminine ship mobiles and castles made of cardboard, send me dancing around the room on my tiptoes. I love the casual yet ornamental feel to her work.

This is just something I wrote a while back. I'm not a writer but surrounded by friends who are all literary goddesses. So... I do what I can. Any how, this little story makes me happy.
